Natural Philosopher abandoned pages

5/14/2020

These unfinished four comics were originally going to follow Collective Consciousness to close out NP. Papa Amalfi, the name a super dated in joke with friends I don’t hang out with anymore, was going to pop up in a bunch of stories as the grumpy foil, leading to his existential crisis and eventual resolution in Parallel Universes.

In the end they felt unnecessary.

Things have been so busy I forgot to post about the 2020 Festival of the Photocopier back in January. It was a great two day event packed with zinesters swarming from all over Aus. I tabled the Sunday with my dear pal Meg Rennie, we had a great time making new friends and hanging with old ones. As well as Some Gay Comics - a collection of gay comics from the past few years I put together for the Midsumma zine fair, I released an illustrated prose zine, Pokómon: One Final, Voluptuous Thunderbolt, a super dark remix of the Pokémon Orange Island Adventures anime. Thanks to everyone who came along and grabbed a book :)

Things have been so busy I haven't had time to post about the 2020 Midsumma Queer Art and Zine Fair back in January. It was a great day hanging out with a bunch of legends, thanks to everyone who stopped to buy a book and have a chat. I printed a new collection, Some Gay Comics, featuring a bunch of gay comics from the past few years. It features an acetate transparency protective slip over a colour card stock cover, and a colour and mini comic inserts. If you'd like a copy please shoot me an email.

It's an absolute joy to announce that Salvation Comes has been nominated for 5 awards at this year's Asia Web Awards! We're up for Best Screenplay Action & Horror, Best Creator Action & Horror (David Mahler), Best Director Action & Horror (David Mahler), Best Actress Action & Horror (Francesca Waters) and Best Horror & Experimental.

This is the first time I've been up for an award for Salvation Comes, it really means so much. As always a huge congratulations to all the other nominees, and a big thank you to the staff and volunteers of the Asia Web Awards. What an honour!

Directed and choreographed a music video back in March for Canadian musician Doug Hoyer. Performance artist Cool Gaia performs a Butoh dance piece to encapsulate the silent scream of a sentient computer program. More info in the video's description.
