Finally got around to cutting a trailer for a short film I finished a couple of months ago,
'One Day My Waste Will Consume My Home'.
I filmed the background shots in the dingy shed behind my old share house all in a single evening, right before we had to move out. Almost a year later I finally got around to recording the audio, then cutting the footage, then finally animating it. The animation is mostly rotoscoped, lots of experimenting with different sized reference frames.
So far it's played three festivals, a semi-finalist in one and a finalist in another, which is great! A big thank you to Fabian Acuna who provided two spectacular trumpet melodies. I sent the trumpet part from 'Suraggu Keikoku No Asa', one of my favorite of Hisaishi's pieces, and he did a wonderful job of capturing the essence while delivering something unique and original. Fun fact, I just came back from seeing Joe Hisaishi conduct the MSO - what a night!
